Tuscany Restaurant Wedding Reception Video

February 6, 2008

This wedding reception made me smile.  The reception was at the Tuscany Restaurant in Salt Lake City, Utah. The groom surprised the bride by inviting Kalai - the bride’s favorite musician to perform several songs.  At around 8:00 in the video, you can see where Kalai shows up and totally surprises the bride.

For their first dance they danced to “Your Eye’s Divide Me” by Kalai.  This is the complete reception sequence…

Persian Wedding Ceremony - Salt Lake City, Utah

February 1, 2008

Ahmad & Paige had a beautiful wedding ceremony at the bride’s parents house in Salt Lake City.  Part of the wedding was inspired by traditional Persion wedding rituals.

During the ceremony the bride and groom were seated in front of a Sofreh ye Aghd. A Sofreh ye Aghd us an eleborate table of food, flowers and objects symbolizing virtues the bride and groom hope to share in their marriage.

During the blessings a white Ghand cloth is help over the bride and grooms head. To shower them with sweetness, two crystallized cones of suger are rubbed over their heads while they exchange vows.

When the bride is asked by the officiant for her consent in marriage, the bride plays shy and does not respond until she has been asked three times. Traditionally, friends or relatives call out “she is not here” or “the bride has gone to pick flowers” until the third time when she finally says “Yes”.

It was fun to be a part of this wedding and see two cultures come together in marriage.  One of my favorite parts of the ceremony was the butterfly release at the end of the ceremony.
