4 Questions To Ask Before Booking A Chapel As Your Wedding Venue

Posted on: 23 January 2018

For many, a church or chapel wedding ceremony is a top priority when it comes to wedding planning. This is especially true among religious couples, or couples who come from very religious families. Before you book a chapel for your wedding chapel ceremony venue, however, there are a few key questions you'll want to ask. This will ensure that the chapel you're interested in will suit your needs and work with your "vision" for your special day.

Are There Member/Non-Member Fees?

Some chapels require a flat fee for renting out their property for X number of hours, whereas some may offer different pricing based on whether or not you're a member of the church. Be sure to inquire about this. In some cases, members of the church of close family members of chapel members may be able to receive a reduced or waived ceremony fee. And with as expensive as weddings are these days, it's always nice to save a few bucks where possible.

Do You Require Counseling?

Some chapels will actually require all couples getting married through their church to attend pre-marital counseling sessions with a pastor or other chapel leader, so this is important to ask about up-front--especially if you have strong feelings one way or the other about this type of requirement.

What Are Your Photography Rules?

If you plan on hiring a photographer for videographer for your special day, make sure you're clear on the chapel's rules when it comes to photography. Most will be okay with photographers, photography, or videography on chapel grounds, whereas others may prohibit it altogether. More than likely, most chapels will be fine with it so long as there is no flash photography going on while the pastor is speaking.

How Long Can the Chapel Be Reserved?

Finally, make sure the chapel will fit in with your scheduling needs for your wedding day. For example, will you have time to set up decorations a few hours before the ceremony? How long before and after the ceremony will you be permitted use of the chapel? These are all important questions to ask when planning your day-of timeline.

Planning a wedding requires a lot of work, but having a chapel ceremony can be very special for you, your soon-to-be spouse, and your loved ones. Just be sure to ask these few important questions before committing to any chapel or church as your ceremony venue.
